Soupy Season

Mother Earth has been calling me. . .alot. . .lately. I want to bake. . .cook. . .sew.
I cut up my pumpkins this year and actually roasted them and puree’d them to make pumpkin bread. Yes I know they aren’t the same but that doesn’t mean the vegetable is not eatable. It just means it tastes different.
I got a strange “squash/pumpkin” from the food bank when I picked up Cameron’s bundle. I knew she would never have the time to mess with it. So instead of roasting it I boiled it and made a squash soup. It actually isn’t bad. It is a different sweet taste but not like sugar. I made it with sage and thyme from the garden. Saute’d carrots & onions & Celery first. Put in the boiled squash, a bit of cinnamon & nutmeg. I wished I had some cumin but I couldn’t find it this time. End results was good.

Got a commissioned work. The pink bunny suit from A Christmas Story. And this is for an 18 year old boy. Interesting. The customer bought the material. Not fleece but a neat knit for Baby Sleepers. I just need my serger to be freed from the shop. The ransom note was for $130. Ouch. But that makes the Christmas presents easier when I get to them. Ha ha ha.
I'll post the project as it goes along. I have a desire to sneak in my trademark remarks. I like to embroider into the fabric in unseen areas, quotes from the movies or something that inspires the costume. so for this one I definately want to do "I double dog dare you!", and "You will shoot someone's eye out with that". I'm thinking of putting them around the wrist area where the mittens are.

Back to the soup. . . next I am going to try a cream of mushroom soup. Using Shitake and other dried shrooms. Heard it tastes wonderful with dried ones. Very musky flavor. Yum.
